MATHEMATICS
As the century unfolds, mathematics plays an important role in providing solutions to real life problems. To assist this process, the Department of Mathematics, as an education institution, tries to produce competent graduates by providing five groups of interest of study, i.e. Pure Mathematics, Statistics, Operational Research, Actuarial Studies, and Computation. The Department of Mathematics also conducts a magisterial program in Advanced Mathematics.
The Department is supported by five Computer Laboratories, containing by 90 PCs connected via two servers, namely Linux and Windows NT, as well as LAN and WAN for internet access. Each PC is equipped with software, such as Matlab, Maple, Lingo Visual Basic, Visual/Borland C++, Delphi, Oracle, Java, SAS, SPAA, Splus, and Clementine.
