LogiTalks is one of the final series of LOGIKA UI 2020 activities. LogiTalks is a national seminar and motivational show that discusses the world of mathematics and its application in everyday life.

This national seminar was opened by Shafira Bawazier as the Chairperson of the Alumni Association (Iluni) of the Mathematics Department of the FMIPA UI who currently serves as Actuarial Senior Manager at PT. Manulife Life Insurance.

In her presentation, Shafira conveyed the stages that needed to be done to become an actuary, as well as the field of work carried out by an actuary.
Besides Shafira, there was also Ade Bungsu, the 1988 alumni of the Department of Mathematics UI who now serves as Chief of Proportion and Sharia at FWD Life. Ade also delivered material related to actuarial.

The event was closed with a presentation about scientist data by Alamsyah Hanza, alumni of the Department of Mathematics UI class of 2011 who is currently as data scientist manager at Gojek.

Not only organizing seminars, but LogiTalks is also filled with Motivational Show by presenting Billy Kurniawan, a math content creator who is currently also a student of Nanyang Technological University Singapore majoring in Mathematical Science.

The session was hosted by The Chair of HMDM FMIPA UI 2019, namely Mahesa Oktareza, Billy delivered about mathematical insights in daily life and its impact on the wider community.

Billy also said that mathematics was very instrumental and gave a high contribution to the Nation and the State of Indonesia.

“Yes, certainly the contribution of mathematics to the Nation and the State obviously exists, but maybe the impact is not direct, yeah. That is like mathematics can improve one’s logic ability, then it can make people have good problem-solving skills so that the quality of human resources in Indonesia will be high, “said Billy.

In addition to providing insight into mathematics in everyday life, Billy also told of himself who had been actively participating in the Math Olympiad since elementary school and sharing tips and tricks for getting a college scholarship abroad.
