The use of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation devices in diagnostic radiology reaches more than 7000 units throughout Indonesia. Utilization of the use of ionizing radiation requires high accuracy and quality to achieve radiation safety for patients, radiation workers, and the public.

To achieve the goal of quality and safety required Strengthening Medical Physics in the field of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, especially at the University Hospital. This is because the University Hospital is an educational facility that can be a training center for the medical physicist profession around it.

Therefore, Dr. Supriyanto Pawiro, teaching staff at the Physics Department of FMIPA UI and chairman of the Alliance of Indonesian Medical Physicists (AFISMI) submitted a proposal to develop a medical physicist at RSUI to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The proposal which was postponed finally received funding which will go down in 2020, amounting to 100,000 Euros.

The implementation will involve several University Hospitals throughout Indonesia, both government and private.
