Supporting Healthy Indonesia 4.0, FMIPA UI Holds Seminar on the Utilization Artificial Intelligence for Health

The potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the health world embodies a new paradigm for health workers, researchers, and society.

Even in Japan, some hospitals use robots as nurse and doctor helpers that are integrated with hospital automated systems.

This was revealed by Alhadi Bustamam, Ph.D., chairman of the Data Science Center (DSC) Institute of Applied Science FMIPA UI.

“The core of Artificial Intelligence is mathematics and statistics, while robots are a supporting tool for the execution of artificial intelligence,” said Aalhadi.

In line with this, on Friday (10/25) FMIPA UI through DSC collaborated with the Indonesia Medical Education and Research Institute (IMERI) Faculty of Medicine Universitas Indonesia, UMG IdeaLab, and Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia (SRIN) to hold a seminar themed ‘Healthy Indonesia’ Artificial Intelligence for Healthcare Towards 4.0.

The seminar invited expert speakers including Prof. Budi Wiweko, SpOG (K), MPH as IMERI’s vice director of innovation and business development, Kiwi Aliwarga as CEO of UMAL IDEALAB and Risman Adnan as Director of R&D Software at Samsung R&D Institute Indonesia (SRIN).

More than 100 participants across institutions, institutions and universities attended this event.

They are medical personnel such as doctors, pharmacists, nurses, data scientists, researchers as well as teaching staff, to undergraduate and graduate students. In fact, Dr. Boy Abidin who became a presenter at the famous event “Dr. Oz “was also present at this seminar.

Institutions such as PT. Prodia Media Husada and PT. Medika Digital Nusantara did not want to miss this opportunity.

Not only from within the country, but there were also several participants from overseas universities namely Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Northumbria University.

The seminar was presented in the form of talk shows and booths.

The talk show is divided into 3 sessions. The first session was presented by Alhadi Bustamam, Ph.D. as the moderator to accompany Prof. Budi Wiweko, SpOG (K), MPH with the theme Future of Health Services.

Followed by the second session themed AI Accelerating Healthcare 4.0, which was moderated by Dr. Djati Hadoko with guest speaker Kiwi Aliwarga.

The last session of the participants was given a presentation on Data Science & AI for Healthcare by Risman Adnan, moderated by Dr. Tech. Djoko Triyono.

Not ending in session 3, participants then took part in the Virtual Reality demo in the Showcase session of PrimeSkills. In this session, participants explained the procedure for using infusions to patients.

While the booth displays instruments that utilize AI technology in the world of health.

Prof. Dr. rer nat. Abdul Haris as the Dean of FMIPA UI officially opened the event. In his remarks, Prof. Haris said that the implementation of this activity was the pre-launching of the UMG Idealab-FMIPA UI AI Learning and Innovation Center, as well as the support of FMIPA UI for the health world to use artificial intelligence technology so that the Healthy Indonesia 4.0 program was realized.

Furthermore, he asserted that with AI in the world of health and medicine today until the future, it does not mean the role of medical professionals, especially doctors will be replaced.

But rather medical professionals are required to continue to follow the development of AI technology so that it can bring the medical world to the next level.

“With this AI, researchers and medical professionals can benefit more, because all that remains is to focus energy and mentality on cognitive tasks, patient care, so there is a greater chance of saving many lives,” said Prof. Haris
