The Winter School Program 2020: Community Engagement About Plastic Pollution with Students of SMAN 69 Jakarta

Saturday January 18th 2020, Winter School Program 2020 was doing community engagement in SMAN 69 Jakarta in Pramuka Island. This island is an island in the Thousand Islands archipelago.

The purpose of this activity was to make the participants could sociallize, interact and engage to the community especially the youth in Pramuka Island.

Peter M. van Bodegom from Leiden University shared on his speech about doing the program for 10 days in Pramuka Islands. Yasman from FMIPA UI also motivated the students to practice their english so they can communicate with the participants from FMIPA UI and Leiden University.

He’s also asked the students and teachers to keep the spirit making environment more less plastic.

As the main topic, the senior high school students shared their project called “MANTAP: Makan Tanpa Sampah Plastik” means eat without plastic waste so that the participants could learn from them to adapt it in daily life.

The Winter School participants also shared their project about making Beeswax wrap for daily food or snacks. “MANTAP” itself in Indonesian means good.

At the end of the schedule, some participants and students had futsal, volley and basket matches together to blend the connection between them.
