FMIPA UI – Hokkaido University Officially Holds the Double Degree S3 Program in Material Science

In an effort to improve its international reputation, FMIPA UI made collaboration with Hokkaido University (HU) in organizing a double degree program for the Doctoral Program between the Material Science Study Program of the FMIPA UI Physics Department and the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at Hokkaido University.

This collaboration is based on the principle of equality that respects each other and relies on the principle of diversity which will give students cross-cultural experience and a world-class academic atmosphere.

The agreement was signed by Dr. rer nat. Abdul Haris as the Dean of FMIPA UI and Prof. Dr. rer nat. Hiroshi Amitsuka as Dean of The Graduate School of Science HU on November 6, 2018, in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan.

Dr.rer.nat. Agus Salam, Chair of the Physics Department of FMIPA UI said that there were three cooperation agreements signed by both parties, namely Memorandum of Agreement on Academic Cooperation, Agreement on Implementation on Student Exchange, Agreement on Implementation on Double Degree.

This double degree program, he said, would soon be implemented through sending three students of the Doctoral Study Program in Materials Science to register at Hokkaido University, which is currently actively researching RIKEN, Redo Ramadhan. M.Sc, Suci Winarsih, M.Sc, and Tri Utami, M.Sc.

The arrival of the FMIPA UI team was accepted and welcomed by a team from GSS and SS HU consisting of Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hiroshi Amitsuka (Dean of the Graduate School of Science HU), Prof. Hisao Suzuki, Ph.D. (Director of Department of Physics HU), Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Hiroshi Kawamura (Director of Office of International Academic Support Faculty of Science HU), Prof. Dr. Isao Watanabe (Faculty member of Department of Physics GSS HU), Assoc. Prof. Masaaki Kimura, Ph.D. (Faculty member of Department of Physics GSS HU), Wataru Horiuchi, Ph.D. (Faculty member of Department of Physics GSS HU).

Besides visiting Hokkaido University, FMIPA UI team held collaborative discussion with faculty leaders and the Physics Department at several leading universities and research institutions in Japan.
