Efforts to Internationalize FMIPA UI Through Collaboration Several Leading University in Japan

In realizing the vision and mission of FMIPA UI in line with the interests of national development especially in the field of education, FMIPA UI seeks to improve education and research quality at national and international levels through academic collaboration with leading educational and research abroad.

As part of the effort to realize the international academic collaboration, FMIPA UI through the Department of Physics conducted a series of visitation activities to several universities and research institutions in Japan on November 5 – 10 2018.

In the series of visitations the Double Degree S3 program was signed between the FMIPA UI Department of Physics Study Program and the Department of Condensed Matter Physics Hokkaido University.

Besides, Departement of Physic FMIPA UI also discussed with faculty leaders and the Department of Physics at several universities and research institutes in Japan, namely the Graduate School of Science and Hokkaido University’s School of Science, Tohoku University’s Institute of Materials Research, Tohoku University’s Department of Physics, Department of Physics Tokyo Institute of Technology, RIKEN, Osaka University Graduate School of Science. 

The discussion activity between the two parties aims to obtain a real academic collaboration scheme that benefits both parties. This was stated by Dr. Vivi Fauzia as Chair of the S2 / S3 Study Program in Material Science, Department of Physics, FMIPA UI.

Dr. rer nat. Abdul Haris, as the Dean of FMIPA UI, said that the collaboration was carried out as an effort to realize the vision of FMIPA UI, which is to become a leading science faculty in mathematics and science that can play a role at the global level to advance science and sustainable development.

Through international collaboration with leading educational and research institutions abroad, according to Haris can improve the competitiveness of FMIPA UI at national and international levels.

“This collaboration is very important, to improve the quality of education and research so that FMIPA UI continues to grow and be competitive at the international level.” Said Haris.

Related to the realization of the signing of the cooperation agreement, the Chair of the Physics Department, Dr. rer nat. Agus Salam said that it would soon be held in 2019 through the sending of 3 FMIPA UI students.

Besides that, FMIPA UI will immediately follow up on some international cooperation agreements and schemes that resulted from the collaboration discussion.

The visitation activity was carried out by a team that is a teaching staff of the Physics Department of FMIPA UI consisting of the Dean of FMIPA UI, Dr.rer.nat Abdul Haris, Prof. Dr. rer.nat. Terry Mart (Chair of the Professor of FMIPA UI), Dr.rer.nat. Agus Salam (Chair of the Department of Physics FMIPA UI), Dr. Vivi Fauzia (Chair of the Study Program S2 / S3 Material Science), Dr. Budhy Kurniawan (Teaching Staff of S2 / S3 Study Program in Material Science).
