Head of Thousand Islands National Park Welcomed The Winter School Program 2020 Group

Monday, January 20th, 2020 the head of Seribu Islands National Park, Badi’ah Said, M. Si welcomed Winter School Program 2020 in Pramuka Island to share about Thousand Islands history and it’s biodiversity.

As she knew the program would run on the island for 10 days she wanted to socialize the area and share information with the participants. Some information was about the Thousand Islands zoning system, coral mangroves, and seagrass monitoring, sea turtle as key species also conservation awareness in the area.

Knowing this information would give advantages for the participants because they have a task that needs to be done until the end of the program. The task that they need to do were consists of 5 topics of marine biodiversity and sustainability around Pramuka Island, an island in thousand islands so that they need so much information to collect the data.

Badi’ah also said it’s an honor to be visited by the biggest university in this country that works together with the international campus. She hopes this Winter School Program would raise a thousand islands name in tourism and also gave consciousness for the local people to keep their environment-friendly and healthy.

Yasman, as leader of the program, shared about winter school activities so far on the island also the community engagement activity in local high school.

As to respond that, Badi’ah said, “I’m hoping so much from this Winter School Program will be the motivation for all the youth on the island to reach their dream having education in a good university, so their knowledge would be useful to protect and conserve their islands.”
